Averest, Inc. is proud to celebrate 20 years of providing cutting-edge battery and charger solutions for the aviation ground support equipment (eGSE) industry. Under the leadership of Gabriel Sampson, Averest has reached great heights and pioneered the adoption of new technologies. In honor of Averest’s 20th anniversary, this article explores our journey.
Gabriel Sampson: Leading Averest to Success
Gabriel Sampson, President of Averest, Inc., has been instrumental in shaping our ongoing success. With a robust background in electric powered ground support equipment (eGSE) and engineering, he has leveraged his expertise from previous roles at Delta Air Lines and AeroVironment to strategically guide Averest’s growth.
Led by Mr. Sampson, Averest has significantly expanded market presence, while staying ahead of the curve in technological advancements. Sampson’s focus on innovation has kept Averest at the forefront of eGSE, strengthening offerings and reputation.
When recently asked what helped Averest succeed over the past two decades, Mr. Sampson told the AviationPros podcast, “Our focus solely on electric GSE is what sets us apart in the marketplace. We’ve continued to only serve airlines, ground equipment OEMs, and airports, and it’s enabled us to develop a specialty that’s unlike anything else in the world.”
Averest’s Defining Accomplishments Over the Last 20 Years
Since 2004, Averest has achieved multiple milestones. These include:
- Pushing boundaries of innovation: From pioneering lithium-ion eGSE battery solutions to promoting the use of rapid charging systems, we’re known for sparking change.
- Forming aviation industry partnerships: Our collaborations with leading manufacturers make it possible to provide tailored eGSE systems.
- Increasing operational efficiency: Clients frequently tell us that they see unprecedented improvements in efficiency, simply by implementing eGSE.
- Championing sustainability: By offering environmentally-friendly solutions, we help airlines and airports meet regulatory standards and work toward carbon neutrality.
Looking back over the past 20 years, we’re honored to have aided the industry’s transition to eGSE. Averest only continues to innovate, Mr. Sampson says. “We have a lot of really smart people on our team who are always willing to come up with ideas. That’s part of our core focus–telling a customer that, yes, we’re willing to try new solutions to help.”
Driving Progress Through Partnership and Tech Innovation
Partnerships with top manufacturers have enabled Averest to offer groundbreaking products, such as advanced lithium-ion eGSE battery solutions and rapid charging systems. These partnerships not only improve efficiency–they help the aviation industry reduce its reliance on internal combustion engines.
According to Mr. Sampson, lithium-ion eGSE battery technology is one of the biggest changes the industry has seen in the last five years. Compared to lead-acid, lithium-ion batteries reduce dependence on routine maintenance, while also allowing GSE to operate electrically.
“Lead-acid batteries continue to be a major product line of ours, but some equipment needs a better power solution,” Mr. Sampson says.
Revolutionizing Operations with a New ERP System
Recently, Averest integrated a state-of-the-art ERP system, streamlining operations efficiency and enhancing customer experience.
This new ERP system enables better inventory management, faster order processing, and more accurate delivery tracking. As a result, we’re now equipped to meet the growing demands of our clients, while maintaining our high standards for service. We will soon be introducing a comprehensive service module that will streamline how we maintain assets across North America.
That’s what Mr. Sampson hopes airlines interested in adopting eGSE will remember: We’re here to help. Whether it’s a call or email, the Averest team is available to answer questions and weigh the merits of eGSE based on the requirements of each fleet.
As Averest celebrates its 20th anniversary, we’re looking ahead, embracing new technologies and partnerships. If you’d like to learn more about our customized aviation ground support solutions, contact us to have a conversation.
